Fire Alarm
Around 2 a.m. on Saturday night, Brendan and I were awakened by a loud alarm, and it wasn't our alarm clock. The smoke alarm was going off! The smoke was so thick that you had to bend down to not breathe it in. Apparently Brendan had been boiling some chicken to make some soup and left it on high and forgot about it when he went to bed. The water had completely boiled out and the chicken was burning. The whole bottom part of the pan was red. Brendan went to take the pan outside, but he couldn't open the door so he put the pan down on the basement stairs. The fire red pan of course burnt the stairs and ruined the carpet and our nice pan. Three days later we are still trying to air out our house. The smell is awful. It's not a camp fire smell or a grease smell, but it smells like a house with old cigarette smoke. I'm hoping the smell won't last too long.
